Conklin Center for the Blind "White Cane Awareness" Walk

Date/Time: Saturday, June 14, 2008, registration beginning at 7:00 a.m. Walk starts 8:00 a.m.

Details: Come out and walk to support blind babies and adults in the Daytona Beach area. The walk will be 1.5 miles along a route surrounding the Center. The Walk is Free although walkers are encouraged to get sponsorship donations from family, friends and co-workers.
There will be a Pancake Breakfast ($3) and Free Diabetes Screening before and during the walk.
We have some great Prizes this year for several categories, and you can also advertise your Business Name or Greeting on our T-Shirt. (call for info)

6th Annual Conklin Center Poker Run

Date/Time: Sunday, September 28, 2008

Details: Join us for the biggest poker run around! Sign up at the Center at 405 White Street. First bike out at 10:30 a.m. and last bike out at Noon. Free refreshments at the Center. $15 includes 1 poker hand and event t-shirt. Door prizes, 50/50 drawing and gift basket drawing along with food and music at the last stop. 4 stops including Inlet Harbor Marina & Restaurant, Dirty Harry’s, Iron Horse Saloon and ends at White Eagle Lounge. Run goes on rain or shine. Sign up can happen at any stop & all cards can be drawn at any stop. You MUST turn in your hand at the White Eagle by 4 p.m. and be present to win.

White Cane Awareness 5K Run

Date/Time: Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 8:00 a.m.

Details: Run our certified 5K course (FL06070DL) along the beautiful Halifax River on Beach St. in Ormond Beach. $20 early registration (until 10/24/08), $25 after including race day. Registration fee gets our runners an event t-shirt, goody bag, & refreshments. Race registration begins at 6:30 a.m. behind the Ormond Beach Library. Race starts at Beach St/ Granada Blvd at 8 a.m. sharp! Water stations provided along the route. Sponsors include 1-800-Got Junk, Alta Vista Sports, Bright House Networks, City of Ormond Beach, Ormond Beach Lions Club, & Publix Super Markets.
